What is a good investment in an artwork?
Is it an oil painting, a water colour, an acrylic, a pastel or even a charcoal sketch? Well, at one time or another it could easily be any one of these genre. What does it depend on?
It is usually the name the artist has developed over a long period of time for a continued series of works produced and sold both through galleries and the art auction process. The established artists rely solely on their sales success for an income. To ensure their standing in an over-crowded marketplace the emerging artist will enter a wide range of art competitions in the hope of either winning or being highly commended. This all adds to the provenance and authenticity when a work is valued.
Well established names are held in private collections, government and corporate collections, quality galleries and art museums.
It is impossible for any commercial gallery to stock or have on hand a range of established artists’ works for general display and sale.
Gallery Beneath has a continuous research program identifying sources of reliable investment quality artworks. Collectors are invited to request this service to source and locate any specific work they may have an interest in acquiring. If you are collecting a specific artist we can help source those works for you.
We are regularly dealing in works by Doyle, Boyd, Sawrey, Hart, Blackman, Rigby to name a few on the Australian art scene. We can also obtain early English, early New Zealand, and established New Zealand pieces.
