Raelean Hall was born in Victoria in 1969. She has resided on the Sunshine Coast since 1976. Influenced mainly by her immediate environment, she has also travelled extensively throughout Australia and around the world.

Raelean is self-taught and has become known predominantly for her watercolour paintings of local beaches and the beautiful Hinterland region. She is equally adept at depicting local flora and still life studies. Her skill also extends to portraiture. Raelean's speciality is painting the abstract formations of the rock platforms of Noosa, Coolum and the Caloundra beaches. She enjoys portraying the energetic summer holiday beach crowds because the beach has always been her backyard. It has always been a lively study engaging her curiosity about the antics of beach-goers and beach life.

These are especially well-depicted in her Sumi-e works. Ralean has travelled to Japan on many occasions for tuition in the art of "Sumi-e" under master teachers Shoka Ota, Chiaki Kato and Sei Amori. Raelean has certainly mastered the art of black ink on rice paper. These studies have also provided a great understanding of the Eastern philosophies on watercolour painting. She has used this ability to draw elegant simple scenes of people on the beach in black on white to great effect.

Furthering her knowledge and skills even more by attending many workshops in different media and subjects, Raelean has also attended classes at the 'Julian Ashton Art School' in Sydney. In 2001 she held her first solo exhibition funded by a Regional Arts Development Fund Grant supplemented by the Queensland State Government and by Caloundra City Council.

This event successfully launched her work to the public and Raelean now has a broad following of artlovers. She has been invited to many group exhibitions and has had work acquired by private collections across Australia and in the U.K. and the U.S.A.
